Participle

A form of a verb that can act as an adjective; most end in -ing, -d, -ed, -en, or -t Ex:the SLITHERING snake

Gerund

A verb form ending in -ing that is used as a noun Ex: WALKING is a good exercise Ex:Mr. Jones enjoys PLAYING golf

Group of words that contains a gerund phrase and modifiers or objects Ex:HIS DAILY PRACTICING helped him become a great musician

Indicative Mood

States a fact or asks a question Ex: This recipe calls for three eggs

subjunctive mood

a verb form used to express a wish, suggestion, command, or a condition that is contrary to fact Ex:I wish my father were here to see my performance

Infinitive

consist of the word TO plus a verb \ Ex: TO WIN first place in the competition

imperative mood

expresses a command or request Ex: Clean your room
