ARTICULATION: Acetabular-femoral Movement: Hip internal and external rotation (Fig. 6-30) Hand placement and motion: With the patient's hip and knee extended and resting on the treatment table, use one hand to grasp the distal area of the thigh proximal to the knee; use your other hand to grasp proximally to the ankle. Roll the extremity inward and outward, but do not abduct or adduct the hip. Be certain that motion occurs in the hip.
