A pilot must be seated in the pilot's seat at the flight controls with the seat belt fastened when the autopilot is in operations. C. Operation of the autopilot and yaw damper is prohibited during takeoff and landing, and below 200 feet above terrain. Maximum speed for autopilot operation is 248 KIAS to 11, 500 feet, then 0.472 Mach to 35,000 feet.

Bank and Pitch Limits (degrees)

Bank limits are 60 left and right Pitch limits are 30 above and below the horizon

"CAUTION" Associated With Using Reverse

Except in emergency, propellers should be moved out of reverse below 50 knots to minimize propeller blade erosion, and during crosswind to minimize stress imposed on the propellers, engines, and airframe. Care must be exercised when reversing on runways with loose sand or dust on the surface. Flying gravel will damage propeller blades and dust may impair the pilot's forward visibility at low aircraft speeds.

Generator Load Limits

Generator Load / Minimum Gas Generator RPM - N1 0-95% / 65% 95-100% / 70%

The aircraft shall not be operated when the ambient temperatures are warmer than _____ at sea level to ______ or _____ above ______.

ISA+37 at sea level to 25,000' or ISA+31 above 25,000'

Cracked Cabin Window or Windshield

If a crack occurs in any side window or windshield, aircraft operation is limited to 25,000 feet or less and cabin pressurization of 4.0 PSI or less as required to complete the flight. The aircraft shall not be flown again until maintenance actions are conducted unless proper authorization is obtained for a ferry flight to a location where a maintenance action can be performed. If a crack develops in any side window or windshield in flight, refer to chapter 9, emergency procedures.

"CAUTION" Associated With Aircraft Temperature Limits

If an aircraft is sitting in the sun and the outside temperature reaches 55C (131F), the cabin temperature could reach 82C (180F). under these conditions, measures must be taken to lower the cabin temperature or damage could result.

"CAUTION" Associated With Fuel Management.

JP-8 fuel per MIL-T-5624 has anti-icing additive per MIL-DTL-85470 blended in the fuel at the refinery and no further treatment is necessary. Some fuel suppliers blend in anti-icing additive, in their storage tanks. Prior to refueling, check with the fuel supplier to determine if fuel has been blended. To assure proper concentration by volume of fuel onboard, blend enough additive for the unblended fuel.

"WARNING" Associated With Crosswind Limitations

Landing with wind conditions in excess of the demonstrated crosswind component may result in damage to the aircraft. This should only be attempted during emergency situations.

Pitot Heat Limitations

Pitot heat should not be used for more than 15 minutes while the aircraft is on the ground.

Max Allowable Airspeed (Vmo/Vne)

Refer to flight envelope chart (fig 5-2) to determine limiting air speeds at maximum gross weight under various conditions. 248 KIAS below 11,500' 0.472 Mach between 11,500' to 35,000'

What is the Minimum crew required for this aircraft?

Two Pilots; Additional crew members as required will be added at the discretion of the commander, in accordance with pertinent Department of Army regulations.

Landing Gear Cycling Limitations

When conduction training operations, the landing gear cyclic rate shall not exceed 5 complete (extension and retraction) cycles equally spaced in a 20 minute period, without allowing 10-15 minute interval between 20 minute time groupings. The cycle rate should not exceed 10 cycles equal spaced in 1 hour. This rate is to keep the power pack motor operations within an intermittent duty class.

"WARNING" Associated With Icing Conditions

While in icing conditions, if there is an unexplained 30% increase of torque needed to maintain airspeed in level flight, a cumulative total of two or more inches of ice accumulation on the wing, an unexplained decrease of 15 KIAS, or an unexplained deviation between pilot's and copilot's airspeed indicators, the icing enviroment should be exited as soon as practicable. Ice accumulation on the pitot tube assemblies could cause complete loss of airspeed indication. 2x15=30 Rule 2 inches or more of ice accumulation on the wing 15 KIAS decrease after entering icing conditions 30% increase in required TQ to maintain desired airspeed Any variations from normal indicated airspeed, between the pilot and copilot airspeed tapes.
