Reading Test - Pavement Chalk Art - Riess
The colors and lines and a slight accident in a railway station create
a feeling of movement and make the image seem real because the colors are dark, forming shadows or a sense of depth.
elements
a part or aspect of something, in art, elements include: color, perspective, shadow, distortion, etc.
Color and shadow work together to give the whole image
a sense of depth.
When seen from one special angle, these images
come together to create the illusion that his anamorphic drawings are truly 3 dimensional viewed this way, his drawings seem to come to life.
Beever chooses to draw on sidewalks so that
everyone can have access to his art.
This makes the stairs look thinner the
farther they seem to get from the viewer.
Colors and shadows are used by Beever to create the
illusion that we are seeing something real.
He says, "My work appeals to literally the
man (and woman) in the street and is not confined in galleries or limited by the gallery system."
Artists can use color to create
mood and to create images that imitate life.
One way Beever creates perspective is through his use
of lines.
anamorphic
producing, relating to, or marked by intentional distortion of an image. (an extreme form of perspective that relates in some distortion
Notice how the colors Beever uses at the top of the frog
seem brighter.
In the second drawing, the depth is going downward creating a
sense of calm.
He uses shadow or
shading at the bottom of the drawing where the frog sits on the lily pad.
Beever chooses this style of art and creates in public spaces because
so everyone can see it without going to an art museum.
Both drawings create the illusion of depth, but the drawings are different in that
the depth is going downward causing it to feel like it is moving for the first drawing.
