MAC address

A Media Access Control address is a hardware address that uniquely identifies each computer on a network.

Internet Protocol (IP)

A communication standard that enables computers to route communications traffic from one network to another as needed.

Dynamically assigns IP address information (for example, IP address, subnet mask, DNS server's IP address, and default gateway's IP address) to network devices.

Routing Information Protocols (RIP)

It uses hop count as a routing metric to find the best path between the source and the destination network

What is Router?

Routers connect networks together. Small routers for home use connect the users' computers to their internet service provider. Digital subscribe routers are combined with a modem in order to make use of unused bandwidth in the telephone line which connects with internet links at the telephone exchange.

Routing Protocols

Routing protocol are used to find the best paths to send packets between networks.

Network Protocols

The rules of communication on a computer network.

Ethernet

a system for connecting a number of computer systems to form a local area network, with protocols to control the passing of information and to avoid simultaneous transmission by two or more systems.
