SB- Statistics, Mean, Median, and Mode
Where is the title of the graph?
at the top
mean (average)
This is the sum of the numbers in a set of data divided by how many numbers there are in the set of data.
trend
a pattern that the data follows over time
scale
gives you numbers so you can count how many of something there are (usually on the left side of the graph)
where are the labels on a graph?
on the left and at the bottom of the graph
circle graph
this is divide into sectors, with each sector representing a part of a set of data
median
this is the middle number in a set of data, arranged from smallest to largest (or largest to smallest)
mode
this is the number that occurs the most often in a set of data. The numbers don't need to be in order to find this.
line plot
this shows data on a number line with x or other marks to show frequency
line graph
this shows increases and/or decreases in data. They are usually best for showing trends or changes in something over a period of time
range
this tells you how far the numbers in a set of data are spread out. To find the range in a set of data, subtract the smallest number from the largest number.
bar graph
this uses thick bars to show information. They are used to compare amounts of similar things
