Electrical Energy

A power plant that burns fossil fuel like coal. Hydroelectric power plants use the energy in falling or swiftly running water to produce electricity.

Convection

Convection is the direct heat transfer from a fluid. Air is a fluid. Example : The greenhouse effect.

Renewable Energy

Energy exists freely in nature. Energy in nature that exist infinitely, which means they never run out.

Kinetic Energy

Energy in motion or being used. Objects moving.

Two types of Mechanical Energy

Potential Energy Kinetic Energy

How does Heat Energy Transfer

Radiation, Conduction and Convection

Types of Energy

Solar Energy Light Energy Sound Energy Nuclear Energy Electrical Energy Mechanical Energy Chemical Energy Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy

Potential Energy

Stored Energy waiting to be used. Object is at rest.

Nuclear Energy

The nucleus of an atom is made up of the stuff at its center. Splitting a nucleus into smaller parts can create energy.

Non Renewable Energy

a natural resource from the Earth that exists in limited supply and cannot be replaced if it is used up; also, any natural resource that cannot be replenished by natural means at the same rates that it is consumed

Sound Energy

energy comes from vibrating matter. It travels in waves through all states of matter - liquids, solids and gases.

Chemical Energy

is the energy produced when wood, coal or gasoline is burned.

Mechanical Energy

is the sum of potential energy and kinetic energy. It is the energy associated with the motion and position of an object.

Energy

the ability to do work.

Light Energy

the electromagnetic radiation - energy.

Solar Energy

the energy reaches earth, it is transformed into other sources of energy - light and heat energy.

Radiation

the transfer of heat energy through air or space. Example : The Sun's Ray

Conduction

the transfer of heat energy through direct contact. Example : Ice melting in your hand.
