Feature detectors

Cells in the optic nerve and the visual cortex that individually respond to lines of a certain length, lines at a certain angle or lines moving in a certain direction.

Temporal lobe

One part of the brain to which an image is sent from the visual cortex. It is responsible for identifying objects viewed.

Parietal lobe

One part of the brain to which an image is sent from the visual cortex. It is responsible for judging the location of objects viewed in relation to the viewer.

Visual cortex

The area within the occipital lobe of the brain that is responsible for processing visual information.

The location of the visual cortex.
