Trading route that ran throughout the middle east to Asia, even reaching as far as Africa

silk traded luxury goods such as porcelain, silk and other valuable items. Sand also traded luxury goods, because it was over the desert and relay trade compared to the he sea route with bulk goods such as salt and ores.
