Tube Pan
Deep cake pan with a center tube. Used for angel food cakes.
Loaf pan
Deep, narrow, rectangle pan.
Baking sheet
Flat, rectangle pan that is about 1 inch deep.
Cookie Sheet
Flat, rectangular pan with 2 or 3 open sides that is used to bake cookies and biscuits.
Dutch Oven
Heavy-duty pot for the range or oven.
Muffin Pan
Holds 6-12 muffins, rolls, or cupcakes.
Pot
Large, deep pot for making stock, soups, and pasta.
Roasting Pan
Large, heavy oval or rectangular pan used for meats and whole poultry.
Skillet
Pan for browning and frying.
Saucepan
Pan with a handle for sauces and liquids.
Pressure Cooker
Pot with an airtight seal for cooking with pressure.
Cake Pan
Round or square pan that is a few inches deep and about 8 to 10 inches across.
Springform Pan
Round pan with a removable bottom. Side is latched, which allows you to open it gently to remove cheesecake.
Pie Pan
Round pan with slanted sides.
Double Boiler
Small saucepan with lid that fits into a larger saucepan. Use water in lower pan to gently heat food in the upper pan that scorch easily.
Casserole
Used for baking and serving main dishes. Come in many different sizes.
