A type of artificial intelligence that leverages massive amounts of data so that computers can improve the accuracy of actions and predictions on their own without additional programming.

Neural networks with many hidden layers—at least 2 but potentially more than 20—that have proven successful across a wide range of artificial intelligence applications.

The final layer of an ANN that represents the networks decision about the input.

input layer

The first layer of an neural network. The activation level of each node in this layer is determined by values of the data itself.

supervised learning

Training an AI system using a huge number of examples (testing data).

unsupervised learning

When an AI system can look at data on its own and build rules for deciding what it is seeing.

hidden layer

a layer of neurons that takes input from the previous layer and converts those inputs into outputs for further processing

neural networks

a method in artificial intelligence that teaches computers to process data in a way that mimics the human brain. It is a type of machine learning that uses interconnected nodes or neurons in a layered structure that resembles the human brain.
