Corresponding angles

Angles in the same place on different lines; they must be on the same side of the transversal, but one is exterior, and the other is interior

Alternating interior angles

Angles on opposite sides of the transversal and are inside the lines

Alternating exterior angles

Angles on opposite sides of the transversal and are outside the lines

Adjacent angles

Angles that have a common side and a common vertex (corner point)

Consecutive/adjacent interior angles

Angles which share the same side of the transversal and are inside the lines

Consecutive/adjacent exterior angles

Angles which share the same side of the transversal and are outside the lines

Exterior angle of a polygon

The angle that is formed by a side of a polygon and the extension of an adjacent side

Supplementary angles

Two angles whose sum is 180 degrees

Vertical angles

Two nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines; they are equal

Transversal

A line that intersects two or more lines at different points

Linear angles

A pair of adjacent, supplementary angles

Converse

A statement formed by switching the premise and conclusion

When a transversal intersects two parallel lines

The corresponding angles are equal The alternate interior angles are equal The alternate exterior angles are equal The consecutive interior angles are supplementary

Interior

The inner part between the two or more lines intersected by a transversal

Corresponding angles are equal when

The lines intersected by the transversal are parallel

Exterior

The outer parts of the two or more lines
