6.4(B) apply qualitative and quantitative reasoning to solve prediction and comparison of real-world problems involving ratios and rates.
Rate
A quantity measured with respect to another measured quantity.
Proportion
An equation that states that two ratios are equivalent. An equation that states two ratios are equal.
Per
For each; for every. Each; for each one.
Compare
To identify ways that multiple things are alike. Show how things are similar or different.
Expression
A mathematical phrase that contains operations, numbers, and/or variables without an equal sign.
Unit rate
A rate with a denominator of 1.
Ratio
A relationship between two quantities, normally expressed as the quotient of one divided by the other. For example, if a box contains six red marbles and four blue marbles, the ratio of red marbles to blue marbles is 6 to 4, also written 6:4. A ratio can also be expressed as a decimal or percentage.
Equivalent
