Shared draft

When collab editing is enabled, if you edit a page and don't save the changes, all page editors will work on same shared draft. If draft is discarded, all edits will be discarded too!

Scheduled XML backup

This method can be useful for small sites, test sites, or in addition to your database and directory backups. We don't recommend you rely solely on this backup method for your production site.

Collab-Editing ON

This mode allows your team to edit a shared draft of a page at the same time, and see each others' changes in real time. This the recommended editing mode.

What do you have to do if you are importing a space with same key?

You'll need to delete the existing space before importing the new one.

What happens when your license for Confluence ends?

Your site can't be updated. This means users can't add/edit pages anymore.. etc.

Collab-Editing OFF

This mode means that your team can only edit their own personal draft of a page. You can configure links between this Space and Projects, Spaces, etc. in other applications. There must already be an application link configured to the other application. These are set up by your System Administrator

Why would you choose between different space exports?

You can export single pages in PDF and Word. Only published content will be included. You can export multiple pages, spaces in XML, PDF, HTML. XML includes everything (pages, blogs, comments, unpublished changes.. etc) EXCEPT team calendars! PDF is most limited. Doesn't include blogs, comments, unpublished changes, and only IMAGE attachments. But the only one that include page numbers!! HTML doesn't include blogs, page numbers and unpublished changes.

What can you do if you need to troubleshoot why someone can or can't do something in your space, and you have a Data Center license?

You can inspect permissions! Inspect Permissions is an advanced permissions feature, and is only available in Confluence Data Center. It reveals a person's effective permissions, combining everything we know about their permissions in a way that can be easily interpreted.

You can view your user count, update your license. If your license expires, users CANT update confluence site.

What might be the case for users asking about missing files?

You may not need to restore anything from backup. Pages and attachments are versioned. If they are actually deleted by a user, they will show up in the space's trash first! The space admin can restore this content from the trash if it hasn't been purged.

What permission do you need to create a global space?

You need the 'Personal Space' global permission to create a personal space.

What are the requirements of restoring a site or a space?

You need to have System Admin permissions. Your backup version of a site or space needs to be same major version as your Confluence site. Confluence supports importing site and space backups into the same major version only (for XML).
