Ambiguity
A passage is ambiguous when it doesn't make clear which go the 2 or more meanings it's intended to have.
How does the ambiguity relate to the Fallacy of Equivocation?
It relies on it.
Poisoning the Well
Occurs when we use loaded language to disparage an argument before even mentioning it.
Fallacy of Equivocation
The Fallacy that relies on ambiguity. Uses multiple definitions of the same word to make an argument.
Persuasive Definitions
defining a term in a way that would seem straightforward but in fact is loaded
Loaded Language
language that primarily plays on emotions. It does not make an argument at all, a form of manipulation.
Complex Question Fallacy/Loaded Question/Many Questions Fallacy/Trick Question Fallacy/Presupposition Fallacy
occurs when a question is posed in such a way that a person cannot agree or disagree without committing themselves to a claim they do not wish to make. (have you stop cheating on your wife?)
Dysphemism
use a word or term that connotes a negative meaning
Euphemism
use a word or term the connotes a positive meaning
