Wwhat are the 3 Intoxalock IID Types

1-Basic ignition interlocks The most basic of Intoxalock models is our Legacy device. Customers who live in states that require additional features device will lease this model. It collects data each time you provide breath samples. The data collected on your device is downloaded during the calibration appointment, and then the report is sent to your monitoring authority. 2-Ignition interlocks with a camera Our eLERT device is installed with a camera. The camera will be mounted in your vehicle so that it snaps photos when you provide a breath sample. States require this feature to ensure the correct person is providing the breath sample when prompted and to prevent a person who is not the driver from providing the breath sample. These cameras help protect the driver as it pairs BrAC data with photographic evidence to validate the person who gave the breath sample is the person who is being monitored. This can provide evidence if someone else attempted to operate the vehicle while intoxicated. 3-Ignition interlocks with GPS In addition to the camera, our eLERT device can also have GPS capability. The GPS capability means that your device can give real-time reporting. Real-time reporting means that your monitoring authoring can see where and what time that a violation occurred. Many wonder why this would be necessary. The reason is that some states have drunk driving penalties that restrict when and where an individual can drive. If someone violates those restrictions, monitoring authorities will be able to investigate more thoroughly.

What is a BAIID?

A BAIID (Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device) is a breathalyzer installed in your vehicle that tests your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) before you start your vehicle. If your BrAC is above a certain level, you will not be able to start your vehicle. Intoxalock Ignition Interlock is a leading state-certified BAIID provider in Illinois. Call (888) 283-5899 today to learn more about the BAIID (ignition interlock device) process. As required by the Office of The Illinois Secretary of State, you will also have to submit a sample of your BrAC at random intervals while your vehicle is on, commonly referred to as a random retest. This random retest prevents you from operating your vehicle while intoxicated after you've already started your vehicle.

How do you use an IID

All Intoxalock® ignition interlock devices are easy to use, with only one button to active and easy breath patterns. Before inserting your keys into the ignition, press the single button on your handheld. Once the LED screens reads blow, provide your breath sample into the mouthpiece. Your state will either require a single forceful breath or a simple blow-inhale-blow breath pattern. You'll see either your BrAC level or the words pass or fail on the LED screen, depending on your state's requirements. Once you've submitting a passing sample, you can insert your keys and start your car.

Why does Intoxalock offer 3 different kind of IID's

Each state has specific laws about when, for how long, and what model of ignition interlock device you will need to install. Due to the variation in state laws, Intoxalock provides three device models with different features to accommodate any state requirements.

How do you pay for an IID

Ignition interlock devices are leased, not purchased. With Intoxalock, you have the option of choosing the payment option that works best for your situation. Lease payment options allow for you to pay for your device monthly or bi-weekly. The overall cost of your IID is determined by the type of device and features your state requires, your installation location, and the amount of time you need your device installed for.

What is an IID

Interlocking Ignition Device - It is a breathalyzer installed in your car to prevent you from starting your car, truck, or another vehicle if you have too much alcohol in your system. If you are convicted of a drunk driving offense, you will likely be required to install an IID in your vehicle as part of the driver's license reinstatement process. State laws vary, and currently, 34 states and Washington, D.C., require all drunk driving offenders to install an IID.

Why choose Intoxalock for IID and 24/7 requirements

One of the many reasons to choose Intoxalock as your provider is the savings and convenience that our advanced technology models provide to customers. The Intoxalock eLERT24 combines two features - an IID that can also provide 24/7 monitoring. With this Intoxalock model, you have to lease only one device to meet those two requirements. Other companies make devices that can only provide one of these functions, requiring you to lease two separate pieces of equipment to be in compliance with your state requirements.

How do I install a BAIID on my vehicle?

To install a breath alcohol ignition interlock device on your vehicle, you will first need to have received either your MDDP or RDP from the Office of The Illinois Secretary of State. Once you receive the proper permit, you will be able to schedule a BAIID installation appointment for your vehicle. If you have received a court order to install a BAIID, you will be able to schedule your BAIID installation appointment upon receiving your court order information. For a list of BAIID installation locations in your local area, visit our Illinois Installation Locations page and enter your zip code in the form at the top of your screen.
