Convert Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers

1)Divide the numerator by the denominator. 2Write down the whole number 3)Then write down any remainder above the denominator. Example: 11/4 = 2 3/4

Convert Mixed Fractions to Improper Fractions

1)Multiply the whole number part by the fraction's denominator. 2)Add that to the numerator 3)Then write the result on top of the denominator. Example: 3 2/5 = 17/5

Multiplying or Dividing Mixed Fractions

1)convert to Improper Fractions 2)Multiply or divide the Fractions 3)convert the result back to Mixed Fractions Example: 1 3/8 × 3 = 11/8 x 3/1 = 33/8 = 1 1/8

Adding Fractions and Whole numbers

1.- Put the whole number first followed by the fraction: Example 4 + 1/2 = 4 1/2 (mixed number) = 9/2(improper fraction form)

Convert Fraction to Percent

1.-Divide the top of the fraction by the bottom, 2.-Then multiply the result by 100 Example, convert 3/4 to percent 3/4 = 0.75 = (0.75 x 100)% = 75%

Adding Subtracting Mixed Fractions

3 steps 1.-convert them to Improper Fractions 2.-then add (or subtract)them 3.-convert back to Mixed Fractions: Example: 2 3/4 + 3 1/2 = 11/4 + 7/2 = 11/4 + 14/4 = 25/4= =6 1/4

whole numbers and ANY type of fractions

In case of doubt, convert the whole number to a fraction!! Then carry on working with it as normal. Example: 3 + 6/7 = 3/1 + 6/7 = 21/7 + 6/7 = 27/7

Convert Fraction to Decimal

Just divide the top of the fraction by the bottom, and read off the answer ! Example 5/8 = 0.625

Converting decimal to a Fraction

Step 1: Write down the decimal divided by 1 Step 2: Multiply both top and bottom by 10 for every number after the decimal point. (For example, if there are two numbers after the decimal point, then use 100, if there are three then use 1000, etc.) Step 3: Simplify (or reduce) the fraction Example 0.75 = 0.75/1 = 75/100 = 3/4

Percent to a Fraction

Step 1: Write down the percent divided by 100. Step 2: If the percent is not a whole number, then multiply both top and bottom by 10 for every number after the decimal point. (For example, if there is one number after the decimal, then use 10, if there are two then use 100, etc.) Step 3: Simplify (or reduce) the fraction Example 62.5% = 62.5/100 = 625/1000 = 25/40 = 5/8
