ethos is when the author appeals to the reader's ethics or character or relies upon the author's or speaker's ethics or character. some authors use the reader's beliefs or ethics to convince you to do something and some commercials rely upon your perception of the author or speaker.

it overreacts. for example vote for x candidate EVERYONE is excited for his new ideas

known as loaded language it uses negative things to describe something for example the dogs pens were filthy.

why do authors use persuasive techniques?
they use persuasive techniques to try to convince you to believe the way they believe, buy what they want you to buy, or do what they want you to do

when they use someone famous or just somebody important to recommend their product. for example I'm brad pitt and i prefer product x deodorant.
