Please Identify the behavior for the following permanent products. Cat has food and water.

"Feed the cat"

Look at the cumulative graph on the RBT study guide, how many screams occurred during session 4.

4 screams. Remember it is a cumulative record of the screams so you need to only look at the amount the line increased since the last session not where it stand on the Y axis (vertical axis).

What does a steep slope indicate on a cumulative record?

A period of high frequency of the behavior.

What does a flat line represent on a cumulative record?

A period of no behaviors.

What is an advantage of a permanent product?

A permanent product can be observed after the fact. Someone does not need to directly observe the behavior to know that is occurred.

What is a permanent product?

A permanent product is anything that someone produces (or makes) as a result of their behavior. This can be observed after the fact because it is permanent and tangible.

What does the ABC stand for in ABC event recording?

A=Antecedent, B=Behavior, C=Consequence.

What is a common type of continuous measurement?

ABC event recording

What is an operational definition?

An operation definition is a definition that is objective, clear and concise. It makes sure that everyone who is observing the behavior know exactly what they are looking for. An example of a poor operation definition would be "Record on-task behavior" a better definition of this would be "Record on-task behavior: as defined by anything the student is sitting in her seat with a silent mouth, hands are in the lap on the desk or otherwise still ( no flapping, clapping or waving, the student may raise their hand to ask a question). The student will not be looking out the window or towards the back of the class unless the teacher or instructor moves in that direction. The student does not need to stare at the teacher for the whole time but must look at the general direction of the teacher approximately one time per minute.

Identify the target behavior and the permanent product of the following: The student will build a lego tower using blue and purple blocks. The student built a lego tower using blue and red blocks

Behavior: Building a tower using blue and purple blocks Permanent product: the tower built with red and blue blocks —-just because this is an incorrect response doesn't mean that it still isn't a permanent product. This permanent product just indicates an incorrect.

Identify the target behavior and the permanent product of the following: Student will spell words with 85% accuracy. Student turns in spelling test.

Behavior: Spelling words with 85% accuracy Permanent product: spelling test.

Please Identify the behavior for the following permanent products. You have a new tire on your car.

Changing a flat.

Give some examples of an antecedent intervention.

Choice Prompting--not this one has to occur BEFORE the behavior, not after. Priming High-probability sequence Noncontingent reinforcement Time delay Contriving motivating operations

Identify what the permanent product would be for the following behaviors: "Please complete your session at Early Autism Services"

Data put into the iPad for targets.

T or F, Establish operations decrease the reinforcing effectiveness of a stimulus.

FALSE! It increases it.. IT ESTABLISHES the effectiveness.

T or F. A cumulative record can have a downward slope which indicates a decrease in the behavior.

False

T or F. Frequency is used to collect data on behaviors that do not have a clear beginning and end.

False, frequency is used to collect data on behavior that have a clear beginning and end. This allows accurate data to be taken. If a therapist cannot tell if a behavior has ended and a new behavior has begun, frequency collection will result in inaccurate data.

T or F a person clapping is a permanent product

False, this is not a permanent product, as it must be directly observed

T or False. Continuous measurement is the least accurate form of measurement.

False. It is thought to be the MOST accurate.

How do you measure frequency?

Frequency is measured by counting the amount of times a behavior occurs.

What is an antecedent (in relationship to ABC data?)

It is any event that proceeds the behavior. NOTE: THIS CAN NEVER BE NOTHING OR OUT OF THE BLUE!

APPLIED THINKING: When you started working with your client, you noticed that anytime he hears a timer he engages in hitting behavior. After he has been in therapy for a few months you notice that when you arrive he has difficulty transitioning from iPad to work time. Under the supervision of your BCBA, you decide to implement an antecedent intervention. Would the following be a successful antecedent strategy: When you arrive you tell the client that he has five minutes and then you will start therapy, you set a timer to indicate when the transition will begin. ---Is this a good antecedent strategy

No, you know that in the past he has engaged in maladaptive behavior when he hears a timer. This would not be a first choice. You would want to make sure that the antecedent strategy isn't already a stimulus for maladaptive behavior.

Look at the cumulative graph on the RBT study guide, what session was there no behaviors observed?

Session 5,8 and 9. This is indicated by the graph being flat and not increasing.

Name some examples of a permanent product

Spelling test, essay, a house that someone built, dinner made, pictures taken

T or F AO decrease the reinforcing effectiveness of a stimulus.

TRUE AO= abolishing. it abolishes the reinforcing effectiveness.

What is the behavior (in relationship to ABC data?)

The behavior is what the client engages in that we are recording or are attempting to record (hitting, screaming, bathroom requesting, smiling, on-task behavior etc.)

What is the consequence (in relationship to ABC data?)

The consequence is whatever immediately follows the behavior. (Did the student avoid work, did mom come and give cuddles, did the student receive praise, were they looking around to their audience? See the completed ABC chart on the study guide to fully grasp this content.

Identify what the permanent product would be for the following behaviors: "Finish your homework"

The homework would be completed.

Identify what the permanent product would be for the following behaviors: "Mow the lawn"

The lawn is cut.

T or F "Do you want to do math or science first" is an example of an antecedent intervention.

True

T or F. Continuous measurement includes all incidents of a response class being recorded. --Meaning that the observer watches and records every instance of the behavior.

True

T or F. Frequency can be collected using tally marks.

True

True or False. Cumulative records never decrease?

True

T or F a video of someone clapping is a permanent product

True, the video is a permanent product showing that a behavior occurred.

T or F. A tower made out of LEGO's is a permanent product

True, this can be viewed later.

T or F. Frequency is synonymous with count.

True.

T or F. Have a clear and objective definition of the target behavior increases the accuracy of frequency

True. Imagine you are told to collect data on-task behavior and count how many times the student is on task. This may vary for different observers. However, if you are told to collect data on chair tipping, defined as any time a student tips his chair back and the front two legs are of the floor one inch or more. It would be easier to target.

If a behavior has stopped, a cumulative record would indicate this cessation by

a flat line.

What does a cumulative record keep track of?

behaviors that have occurred over time

A cumulative record keeps what kind of total of behaviors

cumulative, the behaviors build upon one another.

What is an antecedent intervention?

it is an intervention designed to alter the environment before a behavior occurs.

Name the types of continuous measurement.

narrative event recording, ABC event recording and any direct observation (video recording would be included).
