Self-administered Mail serve

A questionnaire is mailed to a large number of people

Group administered questionnaire

A sample of respondents is brought together at a common place and time

Focus group

A variation of the personal interview is a group interview. A small group of respondents (6-10) are interviewed in the same location

Common method bias

In applied statistics, (e.g., applied to the social sciences and psychometrics), common-method variance (CMV) is the spurious "variance that is attributable to the measurement method rather than to the constructs the measures are assumed to represent" or equivalently as "systematic error variance shared among variables ...

Recall bias

In epidemiological research, recall bias is a systematic error caused by differences in the accuracy or completeness of the recollections retrieved ("recalled") by study participants regarding events or experiences from the past.

Sampling bias

In statistics, sampling bias is a bias in which a sample is collected in such a way that some members of the intended population are less likely to be included than others.

Face to face interview

Interviewer works directly with the respondent to ask questions and record their responses

Telephone interview

Interviewers contact potential respondents over the phone, typically based on a random selection of people from a telephone directory, to ask a standard set of Survey questions

Questioner

Research interment consisting of a set of questions intended to capture responses from respondents in a standardized manner

Survey research

Research method involving the use of standardized questionaires or interviews to collect data about people and their preference, thoughts, and behaviors in a systemic manner

Social desirability bias

Social desirability bias is a social science research term that describes a type of response bias that is the tendency of survey respondents to answer questions in a manner that will be viewed favorably by others. It can take the form of over-reporting "good behavior" or under-reporting "bad", or undesirable behavior.

Non-response bias

Sometimes, in survey sampling, individuals chosen for the sample are unwilling or unable to participate in the survey. Nonresponse bias is the bias that results when respondents differ in meaningful ways from nonrespondents. Nonresponse is often problem with mail surveys, where the response rate can be very low.
