Some defining characteristics of American industrialization would be the invention of the steam engine as well as the steam boat. These inventions revolutionized transportation, making it faster and easier to transport goods. The concept of the assembly line and standardized parts were also a vital part of this time period because it made it so that products could be built faster and easier because it became a pattern for the workers.
