Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) Refers to protective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other garments or equipment designed to protect the wearer's body from injury or infection. The hazards addressed by protective equipment include physical, electrical, heat, chemicals, biohazards, and airborne particulate matter.
Forensic Science
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. Forensic scientists collect, preserve, and analyze scientific evidence during the course of an investigation.
Biomedical Science
Study the sciences from a human perspective through our biomedical sciences major. From anatomy and physiology to human microbiology.
Control Group
The control group is defined as the group in an experiment or study that does not receive treatment by the researchers and is then used as a benchmark to measure how the other tested subjects do.
Positive Control
a part of good experimental design. it receives a treatment with a known response, so that this positive response can be compared to the unknown response of the treatment.
Experiment
a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.
Hypothesis
a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Negative Control
part of a well-designed scientific experiment. a group in which no response is expected. It is the opposite of the positive control, in which a known response is expected.
Independent Variable
the variable that is changed or controlled in a scientific experiment. They are the variables that the experimenter changes to test their dependent variable. The effect on the dependent variable is measured and recorded.
Dependent Variable
what you measure in the experiment and what is affected during the experiment. It responds to the independent variable. It is called dependent because it "depends" on the independent variable.
