Control Group

The control group is defined as the group in an experiment or study that does not receive treatment by the researchers and is then used as a benchmark to measure how the other tested subjects do.

Positive Control

a part of good experimental design. it receives a treatment with a known response, so that this positive response can be compared to the unknown response of the treatment.

Experiment

a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.

Hypothesis

a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.

Negative Control

part of a well-designed scientific experiment. a group in which no response is expected. It is the opposite of the positive control, in which a known response is expected.

Independent Variable

the variable that is changed or controlled in a scientific experiment. They are the variables that the experimenter changes to test their dependent variable. The effect on the dependent variable is measured and recorded.

Dependent Variable
