ADA

Conversations

Are word for word accounts of what children have said while being interviewed by a provider. It is used to document the development in the Language and communication, social and emotional development, and approaches to learning domains.

FIDLRS

Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System.

Time sample

Records what activities a child chooses to do during a given time period. Use time samples to document children's attention spans, social interactions, or to see how equipment and materials meet their needs.

Benefits of Screening

A condition characterized by distinct physical traits and intellectual impairment

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

A condition characterized by impaired social skills; verbal and nonverbal communication difficulties or repetitive behaviors.

Checklist

A list of skills and abilities to be observed. Use a checklist when the goal is to note the presence or absence of demonstrated skills and abilities

Anecdotal Record

A narrative account of an event written shortly after it occurred. It tells what a child did, when they did it, how they did it, and what happened afterward. Use an anecdotal record to write about the development of a skill or ability.

Running Record

An account of what a child is doing as it is happening. Use a running record to track a child's choice of activities or behaviors over a short period of time.

Standardized Tests

Are used to document a child's ability to compare and contrast, solve a problem, put things in sequential order , classify objects, arrive at conclusions, and perform other skills. Use standardized tests to document the development of a child compared to other children of the same way.

Is an ongoing process conducted by child care providers and others to document a child's growth and development.

Screening

Is an ongoing process conducted by child care providers to verify that a child developing or to identify signs of delay
