Cell organelles
Golgi Apparatus
this organelles - not found in prokaryotes - is responsible for shipping things around the cell and outside the cell, it also modifies proteins
Smooth ER
this organelle is found in all cells and aids in movement and support of the cell
Centriole
this organelle is found in eukaryotes and aids in separation of chromosomes during cell division
Nucleolus
this organelle is found inside another organelle and is responsible for creating RNA
Rough ER
this organelle is fund near the nucleus and is responsible for proteins and membrane production
Smooth ER
this organelle is responsible for detoxifying the cell, producing steroids, and metabolizing carbohydrates
Vacuole
this organelle serves as storage, and helps maintain hydrologist pressure inside plant cells
Cell Wall
this organelle, found in plat and fungi, can be made of cellulose providing support and protection to the cell
Lysosome
this organelle, found in some eukaryotes, is responsible for cleaning up the cell
Three parts of the cell theory
1. Cells are the basic unit of life 2. All living things are made of cells, which contain structures needed for functions of life 3. Cells come from pre-existing cells
Cell Membrane
formed from a lipid bi-layer, this organelle controls what eters and leaves the cell
Nucleus
the organelle surrounded in its own protective membrane and is primarily responsible for protecting our DNA
Chloroplast
these organelles are responsible for the production of energy by using light
Cytoplasm
this gel-like material is primarily made of water and serves as a place where many of cells reactions take place
Mitochondria
this membrane bound organelle helps control the cell cycle, cell growth, cell death, and energy production
Ribosome
this organelle is composed of RNA and proteins found throughout the cell and connected to other organelles, it also makes proteins
