What are you interested in leaning towards (audit, tax)

I am not 100% sure yet, however, I really think that with the launch internship I can get a better feel for what I will like as this internship will introduce me to the different fields within accounting, and give me the opportunity to do some shadowing work and help me better understand what I want to emphasize in.

Why have you chosen accounting

I chose accounting because this is one of the most professional, respected and known for integrity. I feel as though these attributes really make up the person I am and I wanted to be involved in such a well respected profession. Along with that I feel that as a person of color the knowledge that comes with accounting is something that I never learned at a young age and something that I would want to teach my younger siblings as well as others within my community

Current news you have heard about

I have recently read a little about how China is advancing in the electric car strategy and how they are beginning to go global. This reminded me a little about my euntrepernuship class and how we had tp choose a current problem we see in society and how we can fix it and I chose the fast fashion industry and how this is hurting our environment and with china leaning more towards electric cars this could really help our rapid global warming problem.

Why EY

I wanted to apply for the launch program because of the mission statement that EY has of building a better working world while building trust and cultivating transformative leaders. I feel that having this common mission will allow each of us to grow into passions and really focus on the beauty and potential that our country has while building trust and convince within our communities. My mentor Lirio also had an internship with EY and she spoke wonders about how much EY values diversity and inclusion. Not only diversity in people but in thought as well and I think this is so valuable in order to create a competitive and comfortable working space where many different people from different backgrounds can excel.

When was a time you improved a process

In my current job at Starbucks, we had to all as baristas communicate days during the holiday that worked best for us to come in. we were all having a hard time finding shifts that worked best for all of us so I decided to post papers in our break room and have people sign up that way, which helped my manager better suit our schedules while getting all shifts covered

Tell me a little about yourself

Well, I am currently a sophomore in college attending the honors college at the university of Utah. My major is accounting and I intend to graduate in the spring of 2023. I also consider myself to be someone with great work ethic, very self motivated and passionate. An internship that I had in high school really helped me enhance the passionate side of me as I was working to get more students of color involved with sports within my community so they could find an extra curricular activity that they are passionate about as I once found with basketball.
