Now that you know how to read labels, find two products in your kitchen (or online) and check out the labels. In a paragraph for each food discuss any interesting points you find such as serving sizes, amount of fat, %DV of a nutrient, ingredients, etc. This requires discussion, not simply listing some foods and some numbers.

Short answer; I went to my pantry and grabbed two of my favorite snacks the Planters brand of salted cashews and I went online to find the Yakisoba chicken flavored ramen noodles nutrition facts panel. I started with the cashews, my personal favorite. I checked the serving size first and it seems very generous to me at 50 pieces. I normally eat about 20-25 pieces in a single serving. Using the 5-20 rule, I was glad to see that the sodium was under 5% at 4% DV, but I was a little bummed to see that it was 11% DV for saturated fat and total fat at 16%. A bi thing for me is protein so I was glad to see there was at least 8% DV, 3% Dietary fibers and a very love Cholesterol of 0%. Next, I looked up the ramen and it definitely had a high DV in the nutrients that should be loser to 5% DV. I would say the most concerning part of it was the Sodium has a 26% DV and Saturated fat, 25% DV. After looking at the nutrition label, I think I will keep the ramen out of my pantry for a while.

Short answer; Three ways to use the percentage of Daily value is to 1.) Compare foods, 2.) Understand nutrient content claims, and 3.) Dietary Tradeoff. For example, personally I tend to compare foods daily values to see which nutrient choices would be the best for my health. I tend to choose things with a higher protein and less saturated fat percentage of daily value/ closer to 5%.
