Research Hypothesis
HYPOTHESIS
1. An educated "guess" 2. An idea that can be tested
Null Hypothesis (H0)
1. Negative statement / Negative guess or prediction 2. A type of hypothesis used in statistics that proposes that there is no difference between certain characteristics of a population (or data-generating process).
2 TYPES OF HYPOTHESIS
1. Null Hypothesis 2. Alternative Hypothesis
Alternative Hypothesis (Ha)
1. Positive statement / Positive guess or prediction 2. The hypothesis used in hypothesis testing that is contrary to the null hypothesis. 3. A hypothesis in which a difference (or an effect) between two or more variables is anticipated by the researchers.
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
Is a specific, clear, and testable proposition or predictive statement about the possible outcome of a scientific research study based on a particular property of a population, such as presumed differences between groups on a particular variable or relationships between variables.
Difference between NULL and ALTERNATIVE Hypothesis
The null hypothesis is a general statement that states that there is no relationship between two phenomenons under consideration or that there is no association between two groups. An alternative hypothesis is a statement that describes that there is a relationship between two selected variables in a study.
