Define auto-ignition point. What is the difference b/w auto-ignition point & flash point?

The auto-ignition point is the minimum temperature at which a chemical will ignite without a spark. The flash point is the minimum temperature at which enough vapor is generated in an open container to support combustion in the presence of a source of ignition.

Define vapor density. What is the density of air and how can you determine whether a gas is heavier or lighter than air?

Vapor density - if gas particles are lighter or heavier than air. The molar mass of air is 29 g/mol. You can determine if a gas is lighter or heavier than air by comparing the molar mass of the gas to the molar mass of air. If the molar mass of the gas is greater than 29 g/mol, then the gas is heavier. If it is less than 29 g/mol, then the gas is lighter.
