Sports performance segment: sport performance as offered to the consumer as a participate or sectorial product Sport production segment: product needed or desired to produce or to influence the quality of sport performance Sport promotion segment: products offered as tools to promote the sport product

a. Critical thinkers should: i. Care that their beliefs are true and that their decisions are justified: that is, they care to get it right to the extent that it is possible, ii. Care to present a position honestly and clearly, their as well as those of others, and care about the dignity and worth of every person.

a. Critical thinking is asking questions and caring about the worth of people, and that what they decide is the best option. If you think critically about the decisions, you make the organization you mange will be more successful because you can provide justification to your decisions.

a. Organization management i. Budgeting, accounting, coordinating, etc b. General sport management task i. Record keeping, marketing and sales, public speaking, etc c. Communication management Writing, selling, working with media, etc
Define principled decision making and give examples of when and how sport mangers need to make principled decisions
a. Principled decision making: basing decisions on the six pillars of character-trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship (good participation in society) sport mangers need to use principal decisions when addressing issues that have to do with ethics and or social responsibility.
Identify three unique aspects of sports management and explain how each makes the sports business different from other businesses.
a. Sports are perishable meaning once they are say played they can't be played again b. You can't predict the results c. They receive a majority of their profits from indirect sources, gear sales and food at the games
1. Describe opportunities and challenges in technology, social media, ethics and social responsibility, and globalization that all sport mangers will face in the future
a. Technology allows for better communication and a more wide spread audience as well as better equipment. But it may change the validity of some of the sports as it adds in a money making element with commercials and athletes doing adds. Social media allows us to feel closer to the athletes and gives another way for athletes to participate in charity. Globalization brings opportunity and a chance for developing countries to make money as long as we aren't taking advantage of labor and taking players from teams so that funding is lower for their programs.
