Technology Grade 7 - Drawing
What is a 3D Oblique drawing? (drawing D)
1. Oblique drawings is a 2 dimensional drawing of an object with "forced depth" so it isn't really 3D because it's drawn on 2D paper. It has actual measurements to scale.
How is the measurements in a 3D Oblique drawing done?
1. To scale. So Eg. If the length of the object is 600 mm and the scale is 1:10, you will draw the length as 60 cm (600 mm). 2. But in the sloping breadth direction, you must halve the true scale measurement. So if the breadth is 565 mm and the scale is 1:10, you must draw the breadth line as 282,5 mm or 28,25 cm. 3. In 3D oblique drawings, all lines in the breadth are parallel.
What is a sketch and example
A sketch is a free hand drawing that is made without a ruler or other drawing instruments.
What is an elevation?
It is a 2D drawing showing the front, top or side view of an object
What is a 3D drawing and 4 characteristics?
It is more life like and has: 1. Vanishing Point 2. Texture 3. Colour 4. Shading
What is a DESIGN BRIEF?
It is the specifications and ideas for what you want to make. It can be notes and/or drawings.
What is aramid fibre?
It is the synthetic outer layer of firefighter clothing, it is tightly woven and heat resistant and has no melting point so it can't catch fire
What is a VANISHING POINT in a perspective drawing?
It represents a distance so far away that you can no longer see how tall something is.
Some National Sea Rescue Institute Stats (NSRI)
They are unpaid volunteers who are on 24 hours standby for sea rescue emergencies
What is a PERSPECTIVE drawing? (drawing C)?
You cannot take accurate measurements from perspective drawings. The artist tries to show what she actually sees, and when we see something far away, it looks small. When you are close to an object, it looks big.
