Baptism gives us new life in Christ and new identity as members of his Body, the Church. Baptism forgives sin—both Original Sin and personal sin. Confirmation, on the other hand, strengthens, intensifies, deepens, or builds on the graces we were given at Baptism. It intensifies our relationship with the Holy Spirit, who lives within us. It helps us be more receptive, more open, to his gifts that were given to us in Baptism.
