Respond

anticipate problems ahead by moving to the lane or least resistance or risk by adjusting speed or by covering the break and or horn

Circle Check

checking for objects or kids around the car, also if the car is damaged in any say before you start driving

Clear Blind Spot

cover horn, ground view and get out of a blind spot within 3 seconds. keep your own blind spot clear.

Maintain

flow up to speed limit and have a safe following distance.

Check Mirror

glance at mirror every 5-8 seconds. also check before slowing, before and after turning, and while stoped

Stagger

keep your vehicle driving next to an open space. establish and maintain space beside your car to allow you an escape route on or off the road.

Scan

look inside parked vehicles. look for occupants who could open a door or put the vehicle in motion (cover horn)

Ground View

look to detect movements of vehicle. people walking out of car, look for feet under car.

Minimum Eye Lead Time (MELT)

looking 12-15 second in the city and 20-30 seconds on the highway or freeway before putting your vehicle in motion

Move

move your eyes every 2 seconds. quickly glance around the vehicle and at the instruments. don't stare at problems. avoid distractions

Spot

Lights On
