Plant cells

Before two cells separate into two in the last step of mitosis, a cell plate forms between the cells. Vesicles forming cell plate in between two cells, forms division between the cells.

Animal cells

Before two daughter cells begin to separate in the last step of mitosis, a cleavage furrow begins to form between the cells. This cleavage furrow is a contractile ring of microfilaments.
