4.3 Modifying Fonts
text effects
A font command group that adds a distinctive appearance, such as outlines, shadows, glows or reflections, to selected text.
font
Also called typeface or font family, refers to a character set that is designed with a particular appearance. Examples include: Times New Roman, Arial, Courier New, and Palatino Linotype.
font size
Fonts can be set to a particular size through the font size drop-down list. They can also be increased or decreased incrementally using the buttons to the right of the drop-down list.
font dialog box
More options are available from the _______________ These include additional underlining options, double strikethrough, and Small Caps, which replaces all of the lowercase letters in a title with capital letters that are a smaller font size.
font color
The color of characters in a font set.
point
The unit of measurement used for font sizes.
character spacing
This setting moves characters closer to or farther apart from each other. It does not change the size or shape of the letters
Position
This setting raises or lowers characters in relation to the baseline. It is similar to using subscript and superscript formatting, except that it does not make the affected characters smaller
Format Painter
a tool that allows you to copy multiple formats from one part of a document to another
change case
allows a user to change the case of selected text to all uppercase, lowercase, sentence case, toggle case, or capitalize each word
scale
makes each individual character wider or narrower. It is described by a percentage, with 100% being normal.
Font effects
other effects that can be applied to fonts, including underlining, double-underlining, strikethrough, subscript (X0), and superscript (X2).
font style
refers to formatting, such as italic, bold, and bold italic
Text Highlight Color
useful in marking up notes or drawing the reader's attention to certain passages or text within a document (makes your text pop)
superscript
very small letters/numbers just above the line of text
subscript
very small letters/numbers just below the line of text
