Steppe Region
low grasses, desert, some areas have no vegetation, deserts spreading in Africa because of climate modification and people changing the landscape
to be a tropical rainforest
must have at least 2.4 in of rain monthly
Tropical Rain forest
1. central portion and the eastern portion of Madagascar 2. most rain is in monsoon season, but every month there is rain
Savanna
30% of the continent is savanna, very tall grass(up to 6 ft)
arid/desert
Africa has the largest area of arid climate zones besides Australia Sahara, Horn in East
Sahara
Sahara in North saily and seasonal extremes of temperature are great, 90 F in July and below freezing at night

encompasses about 1/5 of Africa 1. wet season during summer months 2. dry season during winter months
