suctioning. used to suction large amounts of fluid from abdomen. Large number of small holes allow fluid to be evacuated but will not allow bowel or omentum to be caught in tip.

supply an elasticized circumferential dressing, good for compression dressings on limbs
steri-strips function
supply applied directly over the incision to bring skin edges together the doctor may request the tech to cut them in half so they are 2", making them a convenient length for the surgeon to work with never applied over skin staples or super-cuticular stitches designed to stay on until they naturally fall off
Medipore function
supply applied over 4x4 dressings sometimes roll is perforated making in convenient for circulator to handle. often the sheets are so wide and sticky that four hands are required to apply it
Kerflix function
supply bulky circumferential dressing that is commonly used on limbs over 4x4 dressing sponges and under ace wrapes
cement mixer
supply cement mixer is opened on to the back table and tech used it to mix bone cement. when cement is mixed, the base and top funnel are removed and an injector tip is twisted onto the top
coban function
supply circumferential tape that clings to itself but not to other things. can be used as pressure dressing on limbs or when swelling is expected. find the start of this roll before giving it to the surgeon, it can be difficult to find
Transpore tape
supply commonly used for dressing in the OR it has small holes in it to allow the dressing to breathe. tears easily along the pores
Tuberculin (TB) syringe
supply holds 1 ml/cc of fluid. divided into 10 increments and allows very small amounts of fluid to be dispensed in very precise amounts
mastisol function
supply liquid adhesive provides a sticky surface to help steri strip adhere to surface. dispensed by crushing the glas vial with an instrument and allowing liquid to permeate the cotton tip. next it's rubbed onto clean skin and is blotted until tacky then steri strips are applied to skin.
vaseline gauze function
supply non adherent contact layer petroleum covered cotton gauze used to prevent adhesions and decrease irritation nonpermeable- watertight and airtight seal.
Kling function
supply non-bulky single layer circumferential dressing. commonly used on limbs over 4x4 dressing sponges and under ace wrapes
Microfoam tape function
supply stretchy and wet proof often used for pressure dressings used to provide a waterproof barrier under a tourniquet
Micro wipe
supply when moistened with water, lint free wipe becomes very pliable making it ideal for wiping blood/debris off of delicate micro instruments
Ortho glass function
supply wrapped in padding and sealed foil wrapper to prevent air from hardening the fiberglass. the fiberglass is very soft and pliable. the hardening agent is activated by dipping the material in warm water. it is molded to the patient's extremity and wrapped with an ace bandage. Within 10 minutes the splint will harden
Suction Bovie
supply/suctioning/occluding used to suction and cauterize in deep narrow spaces such as the nose and throat. foot pedal activated. stylet is used to maintain patency

supraglottic airway device used to maintain patency of the upper respiratory tract placed through the mouth and positioned over the glottis in an unconscious patient
