Habituation is when you care less about a stimulus after it happens time after time again. An example would be an alarm every day and you begin to sleep through it because you expect it.

In his experiment, Pavlov had a neutral stimulus such as a tone and rang it before the dog was given meat powder. The meat powder resulted in drooling, but pretty soon the tone itself caused drooling because the dog expected to be given meat powder.

To form a beneficial habit, on average it takes 66 days. I would like to form the habit of going to bed on time every night.
