An indicator that tells you how many times you can multiply the same number

Cubed

Any number that is multiplied by itself three times (7 x 7 x 7) = 343

Squared

Any number that is multiplied by itself two times (7 x 7) = 49

Base

The number that is going to get multiplied by the exponent

Adding Exponents (not a definition)

To add any exponents, you first have to have a common base.

Dividing Exponents (not a definition)

To divide any exponents, you just have to subtract the exponents.

Multiplying Exponents (not a definition)

To multiply any exponents, you just have to add the exponents.

Subtracting Exponents (not a definition)

To subtract any exponents, you first have to have a common base (same thing as adding exponents but you subtract).

Negative Exponents on the bottom (not a definition)

You can never have negative exponents. So, you move the exponent in the denominator to the numerator.

Negative Exponents on the top (not a definition)

You can never have negative exponents. So, you move the exponent in the numerator to the denominator.
