Apollo

- was the son of Jupiter and Latona and the brother of Artemis. -He is depicted as a handsome, young man with no beard and golden hair. Apollo is a cheerful, wise, energetic, and truthful god. -Symbols of him include laurel wreaths, a lyre, and a bow and arrow. He is the god of music, prophecy, medicine, archery, and the sun. Some of these aspects of him are depicted through his symbols (is the god of music, so he carries a lyre). - A famous story of him is the story of Him and Daphne. He found young Cupid playing with his bow and arrows. Apollo got mad at Cupid, and Cupid got annoyed at Apollo, so Cupid shot one of his own arrows at Apollo. This arrow would make him madly in love with the first person he saw. Soon after, he saw the daughter of the river god, Daphne, and Cupid immediately struck her with an arrow that turned her against love. Apollo chased after Daphne who was running away from Apollo and horrified at the thought of love. Daphne cried for Mother Earth to change her form or kill her, when he caught up, because she did not want to withstand his love. She turned into a laurel tree. He was so sad of his loss; this was his first heartbreak. - has all the powers and abilities of any greek god. Three Graces

Aglaia Euphrosyne Thalia are them.The three graces are related to Zeus , Hera and Aphrodite some of the most powerful gods. Aglaia represented Joyfulness, Euphrosyne portraying Brightness and Thalia interpreting Bloom. The Three Graces were descendants of Aphrodite the God of beauty. Therefore they were strikingly beautiful like their mother. They were charming, graceful and lovely. It is believed that the Graces are stones the feel from heaven. The legend is that they should be praised because there beauty should be praised. In modern day times a princess resembles them because of the beauty, powerful parents and praise. There symbol is a well rounded stone and a flower.

Dionysus

Brief story: on reaching adulthood, travelled the world teaching men the arts of viticulture and winemaking. Later, forming a fabulous army of Bakkhantes and demi-gods he made War on the Indians of the east. The Nine Muses

Description: Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomeni, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope. were greek goddesses that gave artists, philosophers, and individuals the inspiration for creation. Hestiod refers how the Mouses in Greek to the Greek word "mosis", which means the desire and wish. They are supernatural nymphs Story/Family: The story of them comes from the Greek Myth, when the God Zeus bewildered the young woman Mnemosyne and slept with her for nine straight nights. The result of them sleeping created them. in Greek mythology, they have created many things we use today in the arts and music Physical Characteristics: are viewed as delicate and elegant women with divine beauty, wearing wreaths in their hair. Heracles

Family Histroy: named with a u in roman. is an esteemed son of Zeus and the mortal Alcmene. He has one sibling, Iphicles, who is the son of Amphitryon and Alcmene. Brief Story: Zeus' immortal wife, Hera, immediately loaths Heracles, and is determined to make his life miserable. Later in Heracles' life, Hera conspires with Heracles' boss, Eurystheus, to hurt or kill this person. They send him to complete 12 arduous labors. The first of these difficult labors is to slay the Nemean Lion. The Nemean Lion had an impenetrable fur coat, so he chose to strange the lion to death. He then sacrifices the lion to Zeus Description: Heracles is often portrayed as a physically strong and muscular man, often wearing a lion skin and holding a club. Symbols: A symbol of Heracles is a lion's skin because of his labor with the Nemean lion. Another symbol of his is the club. demeter

Goddess of agriculture, sister of Zeus, mother of Persephone.was known as the goddess of harvest, earth, corn and agriculture. People believed that she was able to make the crops grow every year, and many townspeople showed their gratitude to her with gifts of all kinds. was very associated with the four seasons. When her daughter, Persephone, was abducted from her by Hades, she was devastated and angry. Hades wanted Persephone to be his wife in the underworld. When she lost her daughter, all her anger caused all the plants in the world to die. Eventually Persephone came back to her, but it was soon declared that each year, she would have to go back into the underworld for four months with Hades. During these sad four months, she grieved without her daughter, which caused winter. When Persephone would come back, she would be happy again, and it would cause the start of spring. Known for having a love and passion for wheat and corn, is always seen holding sheaves of barley or wheat. is portrayed as looking like a skinny woman who has curly dark blonde hair. She has a very mature look, as she is always seen wearing a crown and is always dressed in finery. Symbols: Cornucopia Wheat Torch Bread

Artemis

Physical Characteristics: She has brown or silver hair. She is young and carries around a bow and arrows and is usually accompanied by some kind of animal. Symbols: some include arrows, the moon, and a hunting dog Unique Features/ Powers: is the virgin goddess of the hunt and childbirth. Some powers of her include focus, perfect accuracy that can kill, and psychic power. She is known as the Huntress, is self-reliant, and loyal to her mother. For example, she helped her mother deliver Apollo. Family: her twin brother Apollo and her two parents Leto and Zeus Brief Story: Apollo saw that she was spending a lot of time hunting with a monster named Orion. He wanted didn't want her to spend time with him so he told her to prove her archery skills by shooting an object that was far out in the sea. She aimed perfectly but the object turned out to be Orion's head. In today's world: she would represent mothers or nurses because she helped her mother deliver a baby. Or she represents any type of hunter that can aim accurately towards their target (aka she is the goddess of childbirth and the hunt)

Hades

Physical Description: is a tall, fierce male god. His physical description is unclear and relatively unknown. He is often depicted with his three-headed dog, who helps him guard the entrance to the underworld. He is depicted as skeletal and has the ability to shape-shift. Job: He is the ruler of the realm of the dead, and lives in and guards the entrance to the underworld. Family: He is the brother of Jupiter, or Zeus, the ruler of Mount Olympus. His parents are Cronus and Rhea. Story: He was swallowed by his father, Cronus. After he was regurgitated along with his siblings, he fought in a war against the Titans. He and his brothers ended the war by killing their father. They then drew lots to decide who would receive the ocean, who would receive the sky, and who would receive the underworld. he received the Underworld, and his personality fit his job well. His wife was Persephone. Unlike the other gods, he does not live on Mount Olympus. He is disliked by the other gods and is an outcast. He has a special weapon: a helmet that allows him to be invisible. This helped him to defeat his father in the war.

Eros (Cupid)

Physical Description: s has two white wings on his back with a wingspan of twenty-five feet. He also has blonde hair and blue eyes. Symbols: Bow, Arrows, Candles, Hearts, Cupids, Wings and Kisses Story: Psyche was one of three beautiful sisters and Aphrodite was jealous of her beauty so she summoned him to fly down to Earth with potions which he sprinkled on Psyche in her sleep that would make men avoid her when it came to marriage. But he later felt bad so sprinkled the potion on Psyche that would provide joy in her life. Family: Mother and Father are Ares and Aphrodite. His siblings were Deimos (Fear), Phobos (Panic), and Harmonia (Harmony). Features and Powers: Eros is the the god of love. He intervenes with the love affairs within the gods which causes sexual bonds to form.

Hermes

Physical appearance: is described as being very youthful and good-looking In today's society, In the modern In the modern world, Hermes would probably be an extremely skillful UPS man who sometimes steals your packages instead of delivering them. He is also described as having blonde hair wears golden wings on his ankles, with clean sandals, and golden robes. include the purse or pouch, the tortoise, sandals with wings, a cap with wings, and, lastly, a caduceus with two snakes wrapping around a winged staff. Story: when He was born, he stole Apollo's cattle and then went back to his crib, bearing a mask of innocence. Apollo found out, soon complaining of the guilty him to Zeus. However, Zeus laughed at the fighting of the two half-brothers, and he gave Apollo his lyre in apology. he is the God of travelers, thieves, and athletes. Zeus, and his mother is Maia, the Pleiad. His half-siblings are Dionysus, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hercules, Persephone, Eris, Hebe, Eileithyia, Demeter, Hephaestus, Artemis, and Ares. Unique features and abilities: one of his unique features is that he carries a winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it, wears a hat with wings, and shoes with wings. Like every other God, he is immortal and cannot be affected by disease. He is extremely fast when running and flying, and a master at thievery, purjery, and fraud. He can lift about 35 tons.

Hephaestus

Physical characteristics+Unique Feature: was usually depicted as a man with a beard and lame leg, while carrying around a hammer and tongs (the tools of a smith). Symbols+Who represents him: A hammer and tongs A blacksmith would represent he for the work he does, creations he makes, and his talent/power.Story+Facts+Family: was the son of Zeus and Hera.(also controversy of Hera being the only parent) He was born lame, which caused his mom to throw him off mount olympus. He also interfered in a fight between Hera and Zeus and Zeus grabbed him by his foot and threw him to the earth below. He then started becoming very successful in making crafts and buildings for the Gods at Mount Olympus. He also would make creations for specific tasks that the Gods needed to be done.

Aphrodite

Physical description is the Greek Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She has blonde hair and flawless skin, her eyes are a shiny blue and she has dark eyelashes. She appears to be in her 20's and has a tall, attractive stature. Symbols Seashells, the planet Venus, Number 5, the triangle, the evening star, the ocean, and golden apples. Brief Story; Some say that she has been born from sea foam. When she was born, Zeus was scared that the gods would fight for her hand in marriage, so he decided to marry her off to Hephaestus. They were not a good match, Hephaestus was hardworking and she was very glamorous. She also had many affairs with gods and mortals. Parents: Zeus & Dione & The sea etc. : Helen, Pandia, Persephone (half-sisters); Hephaestus (half-brother/estranged husband); Cupid(son); Aeneas (son, deceased); Harmonia (daughter), Psyche (daughter-in-law). Unique Powers: She had the power to affect a number of emotions in both humans and gods and this gave her many powers.

Ares

Symbols: Helmets and Spears Parents: Hera and Zeus Children: Romulus and Remus Siblings: Athena, Eris, Eileithyah, Hebe, and Hephaestus Physical appearance: He is depicted with muscles all over, a fierce expression and a "don't talk to me" vibe. God of What: is the god of war, murder, and bloodshed Brief Story: Him and the Trojan War When he heard that the Trojans were going to attack the Greeks, he soon joined the fighting. Once the Trojan War started all the gods and goddesses came down to Earth the fight with their favorite side. Ares basically led the Trojans during the war. With him on their side the Trojans slaughtered many, but all of a sudden Athena, his own sister, and Diomedes hurt him. he had no choice but to leave and flee the battlefield while he can.

The Three Fates

are three sisters that are old women, robed in white. They share one eye between the three of them. The three symbols are probably a blindfold over their eyes because they are missing 5 eyes between tnhem. Another symbol would be a eye because it is the thing that is shared between them. A story about the three fates is that Three days after a child was born, it was thought that the Fates would visit the house to determine the child's fate and life. are sisters the rest of their family is unknown Clotho is the one who spins the thread of life; Lachesis is the one who draws the lots and determines how long one lives, by measuring the thread of life; and Atropos, the inevitable, is the one who chose how someone dies by cutting the thread of life with her shears.

doesn't have many special powers. However, he did blow onto a bed of crushed reeds one day and discovered he could make sounds so he made them into an instrument. . . is the son of Hermes and his mother is unknown. However,his mother is said to have run away because she was repulsed by him. s described as very ugly; he has goat legs, two goat horns atop his head and pointed ears. is the God of the wild( Forests mountains, trees ect.)he runs around the mountains and forests slaying and killing animals during the day. However, by night pan plays sweet music on the instrument that he invented called the panpipes. he's always trying to seduce Nymphs but he is turned away because of his how ugly he is. Once when he was chasing a Nymph he ran it into a bush and he crushed some reeds. he felt bad so he blew on the reeds and discovered he could make sounds and turned it into the pan pipes . symbols: pipes and horns

Hera

has brown hair and was said to be a young beautiful women, the most beautiful out of all the goddesses, beating Aphrodite. was the wife of Zeus. Other than being known for her beauty she was also known for her jealousy. Zeus would always go around having affairs with other woman and that made her very angry so she would either get revenge on the women or their children. One example of her revenge is when she knew that the queen of Lybia had an affair with Zeus, she transformed the queen into a monster and the queen ended up killing her own children. Father- Cronus, Mother- Rhea, Siblings- Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and zeus. Hestia

is a virgin goddess of the hearth, architecture,the family, and the state. -SYmbols:The hearth and its fire -Parents: Cronus and Rhea -Siblings: Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, Zeus - Special Talents: As the goddess of the hearth she personified the fire burning in the hearth of every home in Greece, she ruled over the state a is supposed to have been one of the most beautiful goddess, she wore a robe -When Cronus swallowed his children for fear one would dethrone him, Hestia was the eldest and thus swallowed first.

Zeus

is usually depicted as a strong older man, with long curly hair, and a beard. Symbols: Lightning Bolt and Throne Brief Story: Coronus had heard of news that one of his children were going to overthrow him and take over his kingdom, Therefore he swallowed all of his kids. Luckily Rhea hid him from Cronus, so he was unable to swallow him. Oncehe grew up, he forced his father to vomit out his siblings. Rhea and Cronus had six children, Hesita, Pluto, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and him. Married Hera was the god of the sky and thunder, and ruled over all the olympian Gods In today's world, he represents a leader of some sort.

Poseidon

n order to win to over the city of Athens so that the people could make him their patron God.he threw his spear and created a fountain of fresh water to come up but it then quickly turned to salt water, which the people could not use. Athena who gave the people an olive tree. Athena's gift out favored him and she won the city. In angered he flooded the Attic Plain. Eventually both deities combined their powers to create the chariot. He ruled the horses and the Athena, the goddess of military victory created the chariot itself. Athena

was the virgin goddess of war. She was a tall slim woman with blueish green eyes that always had a suit of armor and a golden helmet.A common story is that of the day she turned Medusa from a very pretty girl, to a monster.Her father was Zeus. She has MANY siblings. For instance Aphrodite, Hercules, and Artemis.Her symbol was the owl had the power to make people do things good or bad. She was very intelligent and could give others the gift of wisdom.She could also create peace, and help people in war. In today's world might be the highest person in the military.
