expression
A math phrase with numbers, variables, and/or symbols.
multiple
A number formed by multiplying a number by a whole number.
factor
A number that is multiplied.
fraction
A number that represents a part of a whole.
increase
A rise in the amount or size of something (noun).
algorithm
A step-by-step solution, where you follow the steps to get an answer.
operation
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, or dividion performed on a pair of numbers.
pattern
Any repeated arrangement or sequence that follows a rule or repetition.
opposite
Being in a position on the other side or across from.
equal
Being the same in size, degree, or amount.
equivalent
Having the same value, worth, or meaning.
least
Less than anything or anyone else; the SMALLEST amount or number.
greater (than)
More than.
less (than)
Not as great as another number/amount.
even numbers
Numbers that can be divided by 2 without a remainder.
odd numbers
Numbers that end with 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and cannot be divided evenly by 2.
array
Objects arranged in rows and columns.
quarter
One of four equal parts of a whole; one fourth.
half
One of two equal parts of a whole.
addition
The act of combining numbers to make a new number.
multiplication
The act of finding the product of two or more numbers.
division
The act of separating into equal parts or groups / finding how many times one number goes into another.
difference
The amount left when one number is subtracted from another.
quotient
The answer to a division problem
product
The answer to a multiplication problem.
sum
The answer to an addition problem.
denominator
The bottom number of a fraction.
greatest
The most or the biggest.
subtraction
The process of reducing one number from another.
numerator
The top number of a fraction.
decrease
To become less, or to make something become less.
add
To combine numbers to make a new number.
estimate
To find an answer close to an exact answer.
solve
To find the answer to a problem.
subtract
To find the difference between two numbers.
multiply
To find the product of two or more numbers.
increase
To make something become larger in amount or size (verb).
double
To make twice as much (or many).
simplify
To rewrite an expression using shorter terms or smaller numbers that have the same value.
divide
To separate into equal parts or groups / to find how many times one number goes into another number.
equation
Two expressions with an equal sign between them.
