Suspension

A mixture in which small particles of a substance are dispersed throughout a gas or liquid.

Mixture

A mixture is a material system made up of two or more different substances which are mixed but are not combined chemically. A mixture refers to the physical combination of two or more substances on which the identities are retained and are mixed in the form of solutions, suspensions, and colloids.

Solution

A solution is a homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.

Concentration

Chemistry. (in a solution) a measure of the amount of dissolved substance contained per unit of volume.

Density

Density is a measure of mass per volume.

Homogeneous

Homogeneous is a term in physical chemistry and material science that refers to substances and mixtures which are in a single phase. This is in contrast to a substance that is heterogeneous. The definition of homogeneous strongly depends on the context used.

Colloid

Is a substance in which one substance of microscopically dispersed insoluble particles is suspended throughout another substance.

Alkaline

Metal

Conductivity

Physics. the property or power of conducting heat, electricity

Solvent

The component of a solution that is present in the greatest amount. It is the substance in which the solute is dissolved.

Solute

The component of a solution that is present in the greatest amount. It is the substance in which the solute is dissolved. Examples: The solvent for seawater is water.

Acid

acids contains H3O+ ions, sour taste, below 7 on pH scale, turns blue litmus paper red

Base

bases hydroxide OH- ions, bitter taste, above 7 on the pH scale, turns red litmus paper blue

Heterogeneous

composed of different substances or the same substance in different phases, as solid ice and liquid water.

Saturated

containing the maximum amount of solute capable of being dissolved under given conditions.

Salt

crystalline compound, sodium chloride, NaCl, occurring as a mineral, a constituent of seawater, etc., and used for seasoning food, as a preservative, etc.

Neutral

having no charge.

Unsaturated

not saturated; having the power to dissolve still more of a substance

Salinity

of or relating to a chemical salt, especially of sodium, potassium, magnesium, etc., as used as a cathartic.

Neutralization

the act, process, or an instance of neutralizing.

Buoyancy

the power to float or rise in a fluid; relative lightness.

Solubility

the quality or property of being soluble; relative capability of being dissolved.

pH

the symbol for the logarithm of the reciprocal of hydrogen ion concentration in gram atoms per liter, used to express the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a scale of 0 to 14, where less than 7 represents acidity, 7 neutrality, and more than 7 alkalinity.

Supersaturated

to increase the concentration of (a solution) beyond saturation; saturate abnormally.
