Describe asexual reproduction. (Include definition, explanation for genetic variation, and description of types)

Asexual reproduction is when an organism produces offspring without a mate by either budding or binary fission and there is no genetic variation between the parent and the offspring.

If you are looking a multicellular organism with a microscope, would you be looking at a prokaryotic or a eukaryotic cell? Explain.

A multicellular organism would be made of eukaryotic cells because prokaryotic cells can ONLY be unicellular organisms.

If you are looking a a unicellular organism with a microscope, would you be looking at a prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell? Explain.

A unicellular organism could either be a prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell. However, if the nucleus is present, then it would classified as a eukaryotic cell.

How are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells alike?

Both types of cells use energy for life functions. These cells all have a cell membrane, ribosomes cytoplasm, and DNA.

How are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells different?

Eukaryotic cells can be unicellular or multicellular. The DNA is stored in a nucleus. Eukaryotic cells have membrane-bound organelles like mitochondria, chloroplasts, and the endoplasmic reticulum. Thus, they are more complex and larger than prokaryotic cell. Prokaryotic cells are ONLY unicellular. The DNA is free-floating in the cytoplasm. Prokaryotic cells do NOT have membrane-bound organelles. Thus, they are simple organisms and are smaller than eukaryotes.

If you are looking at a cell with a microscope, how would you know if it is a prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell?

Eukaryotic cells would have a nucleus and prokaryotic cells would not have a nucleus when viewing with a microscope.

Describe sexual reproduction. (Include definition, explanation for genetic variation, and description of types)

Sexuall reproduction is when two mates reproduce and have offspring that has a unique mixture of both parents and they can either do internal or external fertilization
