T-angible

A goal is tangible when you can experience it with 1 of 5 senses 1) taste 2) touch 3) smell 4) sight 5) hearing

Attacking school work

- whether it be homework, assignments major projects or studying for tests, make organizating school work more effective.

Attacking Time

- write it down: write all activities - add it up: estimate how long each task takes - Decide when: designate when each task will be completed - Execute your plan: put your plan into actions

Attacking a space

- Sort through each possession - Purge to get rid of duplicates - Assign a home decide where items will "live" - Containerize use maintains to keep items separate - Equalize maintain your system over time

Goal setting is an important method of.....

-Deciding what's important -motivate yourself -build self confidence -building skills for success

Step one: Analyze

-Identify what's working and what's not -identify what is essential with the space assignments or task that you have organized -identify what the pay off will be to get you organized

Space or physical possessions

-a task or assignments -organization your time

Road blocks to good organization

-homeless items and tasks -inconvenient storage -overly complexed organizational systematic-having more stuff than space available -the out of sight, or out of mind mindset -fear of losing your individuality -the belief that organizing is boring -unclear goals and priorities

Completing daily homework

-immediately write down the homework assignment -clearly label the handout or page on which you are completing the work as "homework" include the date -make any additions or corrections to homework each time it is taken up make notes and review them -decide if it makes sense to keep the homework in your binder in sequential order, separate, labeled "homework"

In summary

-skills are not genetic we have to work at them through our life -takes time to organize save time and stress -no "one size fits all" system -requires maintenance for it to be effective your "never" done organizing

Step two: Strategize

-two important strategies are incorporated here -use the "kindergarten model" (label) -estimate the time it will take to do the organization

Organization

-work efficiently and effectively at any task you undertake -reduce stress that can hinder your achievements -buy you time and energy to reach your true potential in everything you take on -true talents, and abilities through chaos -1 out of 3 teens reports feeling stress daily -74% of teen girls say that their teen lives are more stressful than our parents -68%of teens say their peers or kind of stressed -62% of high school students feel they are rushed to keep up with high school, jobs, family and social lives

Studying for a test

-write down test date -put all notes, handouts, assignments, related all together -ensure all notes one in order by date -highlight and review notes -make separated study notes on important ideas -give yourself several days to plan out what you need to cover each day -keep your marked test in a separate section in your binder completed with corrections when taken up in class

Work on assignments

-write down the assignments due date -read over the assignments expectations -do any background research -plan ahead that the assignment is completed over several days-clearly label assignment sections for clarity -have your teacher check over your rough draft a couple days before it's due -keep final draft and label it -keep returned assignments for exam review

3 step plan to all organizational tasks

1) analyze 2) strategize 3) attack

What needs to be organized in your life??

1) space and physically possessions 2) tasks such as school and assignments 3) your time

Organizing a binder for a subject area

1) use a binder for each subject 2) separate and label subject 3) do not overload binders until the rings can barely close 4) ensure that all pages are secured neatly in the binder

M-easurable

All goals should have a way to evaluate whether or not they were accomplished. In order to determine if your goal is measurable you must ask some questions 1) how much? 2) how many? 3) how will I know when it's accomplished?

Time organization challenges

Delete the task- decide, based on priorities, what you want to be able to accomplish that day or week. Delay the task- determine what's still important to be done but you can delay until a later time Diminish the task- try to determine the most efficient way to get the task done Delegate the task- find a helper that can complete the task for you

A-ttainable

Goals must be something you are capable of reaching To make sure your goals are attainable 1) plan your steps wisely. 2) establish a time frame that allows you to carry out your steps.

T-imely

Make sure that you have a time set as a "dead line" so that your goal is not unending. Putting an end in your goals gives you a clear target to work towards.

R-elavant

Make sure your goals are important to you and your lifestyle - make goals realistic (and relevant) - to be realistic a goal must represent an objective. -toward which you are both willing and able to work. Determine if your goals are realistic by... 1) Do I truly believe that it can be accomplished? 2) Have I accomplished something similar in the past? 3) Can I identify the conditions that would have to exist to accomplish this goal?

BEWARE OF THE TWO P'S

Procrastination- work best under pressure scrape work against the clock and never do their best work Perfectionism- delaying or not handing something in until it's "perfect" can lead to poorer mark than if you handed in your work on time

Step three: Attack

The approach here will depend on which organizational problem you are "attacking" this could include

S-pecific Goals

To set a specific goals you must answer the 6 w's 1) who is involved? 2) what do i want to accomplish? 3) where? Identify a place. 4) which? Identifyrequirements, and constrains. 6) why? Whats the purpose of this goal?

FINAL THOUGHTS

Write down your goals and look at them. Failure to meet goals only matters if you don't learn something from your mistakes. *remember Philippians 4:13
