What did the supreme court rule on the Dred Scott case.
Dred scott was still a slave because he was not a citizen being a slave and had no right to bring forth a lawsuit. He was property. Congress had no power to prohibit slavery. The 36 degrees 30 north latitude was unconstitutional and so was popular sovereignty. Not even voters in the territory could vote on slavery because it was taking peoples property. In the end , the constitution protected slavery.

Enslaved AM bought by an army Dr. in Missouri, a slave state. His owner moved to IL and then WI which were both free states or territories. Later, family returned to Missouri and the Dr. died.
