- old residents have anger and conflict and will believe the area has changed beyond recognition - whereas new residents have improved the place but there is still a strong latino presence still clear today - still multi-cultural and liberal and artistic today

- the ^ of flows of capital has led to more money being invested into infrastructure and into the local community - higher disposable income for the workers (median income tripled from $15,000 in 1985 to $65,000 in 2014) - more affluent and trendy place to live - new residents were attracted to the micro-climate and rich history of the mission - crime levels decreased by 50% from 2,000 to 1,000 (safer area) - education levels ^ as percentage of those with a degree has ^ from 18% in 1985 to 50% in 2014 (better access to high paid jobs) - less deprivation and more tax in the neighbourhood which ^ the quality of life for all
