I was an English scientist. I was the personal physician to the King of England, despite my controversial views on how the human body functioned. I discovered and documented the circulation of blood in the human body.
William Harvey
I am an Italian sailor, although I sailed for Spain. I was sent to find a new route to India, but I thought the world was smaller than it was, and I did not know there were two continents in my way as I headed west. I am credited with "discovering" the New World and the trade that occurred between the new world and Europe was named after me.
Christopher Columbus
I was Chief Minister of the Kingdom of Sardinia. I joined forces with the French to push the Austrian army out of Northern Italy in 1859. I unified Northern Italy.
Count Camillo Cavour
I am a French sailor. I opened up a huge fur trade between the "new world" and France, and set up the trading colonies of Quebec and Montreal. I navigated the St. Lawrence River and am credited with establishing a French presence in the "new world."
Jacques Cartier
I was an Italian scientist. I built my own telescope and studied the heavens. I used my findings to support new ideas about the universe, most notably the heliocentric theory.
Galileo Galilei
I am considered to be one of the greatest Italian patriots. I recruited an army of more than 1,000 soldiers and captured Naples and the island of Sicily. I joined southern Italy
Giuseppe Garibaldi
I confiscated lands that belonged to the Pope and Catholic Church in my country and gave it to my nobles. I dismissed the authority of the Pope in Rome. I was the man who initiated the split between England the Catholic Church, and founded the Church of England (Anglican Church). I broke with the Catholic Church when the Pope would not give me a divorce from my wife, whom I believed could not give me a son and heir.
Henry VII
I am the man who followed Columbus to the new world in 1519. I am a conquistador. I came for gold, and ended up wiping out the Aztec people in what is today Mexico with my guns and the diseases (smallpox) I brought.
Hernando (Hernan) Cortez
I am a member of the Portuguese royal family. My main goals were to find gold for Portugal, as well as to find a way to the rich spice trade of the Indies. My expeditions taught explorers about currents, wind patterns, and climates. I am often called "the Navigator."

I was a priest and teacher at Oxford University. I attacked the wealth of the Catholic Church and the immorality of some of its clergy. I believed that individuals should be allowed to read and interpret scripture for themselves without church intervention I wanted to replace the authority of the church with that of the Bible. I was a dissenter prior to Martin Luther. Outlaw leader of the Lollards.
John Wycliffe
In 1643 I became the king of France I was a French absolute monarch, claimed divine right, and called myself the "Sun King." I built a grand palace at Versailles as a symbol of my royal power.
Louis XIV (the 14th)
I became king of France in 1774. My rule saw France's debt continue to grow, due mostly to my giving assistance to the United States during the American Revolution. I married Marie-Antoinette to strengthen France's alliance with Austria. I was beheaded during the French Revolution.

I was greatly influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment and the American and French Revolutions. I am a native resident of South America. I led several revolutions in Spanish colonies, liberating the northern areas of Latin America.

I am an English sailor. I was a "sea dog," challenging Spanish and Portuguese monopolies of sea trade. My plundering of Spanish slave ships and treasure ships greatly upset King Phillip II of Spain. I was the first English sea captain credited with circumnavigating the globe.

Francisco Pizarro
I am a French Cardinal (I work for the Pope) from France. I was the chief minister to Louis XIII, who was only 8 years old when he came to power. I was the one who had the Edict of Nantes repealed, and thus took certain religious freedoms from the French Huguenots. I was a political genius who wanted to make the king supreme in France and France supreme in Europe. I changed the focus of the Thirty Years' War from a religious to a political conflict.
Cardinal Richelieu
I believed in the divine right of kings. I was forced by Parliament to sign the Petition of Right. Puritans disliked the fact that I enjoyed the formal religious ceremonies of the Anglican Church. I fought the Roundheads during the English Civil War, lost, and was ultimately beheaded.
Charles I
I was a Stuart King from Scotland. I was brought to the throne of England after the failure of the Puritan government following the death of Oliver Cromwell. My return, and that of my family, to the throne of England is often called The Restoration.
Charles II (Charles Stuart)
I was the Holy Roman Emperor and leader of the Hapsburg Dynasty/ Empire. I called the Diet of Worms to make Martin Luther recant his views. When Luther did not recant his views, I authorized the German people to kill Lutherans and take their land, which they chose not to do.

I was the monarch of England for over 70 years. I promoted tolerance for dissenters. I promoted expansion for my country, including colonizing parts of the New World. I achieved victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588 I made the Anglican Church the official church of England.

I am a famous French Painter. My paintings consisted of subjects from the past, and were full of drama and action. I was a Romantic painter, valuing emotion and instinct above reason. I painted Liberty Leading the People.
Eugene Delacroix
I was a priest in Mexico in 1810. I led an army of Indian peasants against Spanish peninsulares and creoles. I was ultimately captured by the Spanish and executed. I started the Mexican independence movement.
Father Miguel Hidalgo
I am a Portuguese sailor, but I sailed for Spain. In 1519 I left Spain with five ships to cross the Atlantic to South America. I sailed around the southernmost tip of South America, and named the great ocean I found the Pacific Ocean. I was killed in 1521 while fighting islanders on the Philippine Islands. My expedition was credited with being the first to circumnavigate (sail around) the globe.
Ferdinand Magellan
I am a German monk who believed that salvation can be achieved through the Bible alone. I also believed the Bible was the ultimate source of authority, and that all people are equal before God. I protested against the Pope's sale of indulgences. I posted my 95 thesis on the doors of Wittenberg Church in Germany.
Martin Luther
I thought of myself primarily as a sculptor, not a painter. I worked for the Pope, painting his Sistine Chapel. I sculpted the David of Florence.
Michelangelo
I was a writer during Spain's Sigleo d' Oro (Golden Age). I pioneered a new art form called the novel, that made fun of Spanish tradition and the nobility. I wrote Don Quixote.
Miguel de Cervantes
I wrote The Spirit of Laws in 1748, and tried to describe the perfect government. I believed that the best form of government involved a separation of powers between executive, legislative, and judicial branches, providing checks for political power.
Montesquieu
I am a French leader who became famous as a general from 1795 to 1799. I gained popular support due to my victories against the Sardinians and Austrians. My supporters believed I could win victories abroad and restore order in France. Desiring a stable France that would not fall back into the hands of the royalists, I came to power in a coup d'état in 1799.
Napoleon Bonaparte
I am an American Revolutionary. I was greatly influenced by Enlightenment philosophers such as John Locke. I declared that all men are created equal and have the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." I am the principal author of the Declaration of Independence.
Thomas Jefferson
I am a former slave who led a rebellion of slaves against France. I abolished slavery and won independence for Haiti.

I am a Portuguese sailor. I was the first to round the Cape of Good Hope and landed in India in 1498. I returned with spices from India that sold at some 3000% their investment.
