4-6 Dental Cements
What we use in VCU Monobond Etch & prime -self-etching glass-ceramic primer NOT for zirconias •A single bottle primer which allows etching and silanization of glass ceramics in one step •Contains a trimethoxypropyl methacrylate for salinization & new polyfluoride acid for etching step Etching creates a roughness pattern which is less pronounced than with HF gel but as efficient for bonding No etching with hydrofluoric acid is required!
1. Rub 20 secs 2. Stay on for 40 secs 3. Rinse well 4. Dry 10 secs
2. Primer Application of a special ceramic primer onto the zirconia bonding surfaces that contains special adhesive phosphate monomer called MDP: -10-methacryloyloxydecyl-dihydrogen-phosphate (MDP) MDP HAVE THE ABILITY TO: −Better wet the slightly rough surfaces −Provide superior long-term bond strengths to air-particle-abraded zirconia
MDP is the MVP
What we use in VCU Adhese Universal -universal = single-component, light-cured adhesive •Used for direct & indirect bonding procedures •Compatible with all etching techniques: -self-etch -selective-enamel-etch -total-etch
8th generation selective etching
Bonding Steps 1. When the crown is ready for cementation. Clean the intaglio surface! 2. Etch or sandblast the intaglio surface and then apply appropriate primer 3. Etch the tooth and apply bonding agent (primer) 4. Dual-cured resin cements may require activation with a light-curing unit 5. Clean excess cement before the cement is completely set
Nonsetting try-in pastes of matching shades are convenient accessories for use with ceramic veneers.
Self-adhesive resin cement ELIMINATES NEED FOR A SEPARATE PRIMER FOR A BOND...
Panavia SA Cement Universal SpeedCEM Plus
Adhesive resin cement Used for bonding of ceramic or metallic restorations Typically requires a separate primer for bonding to tooth or ceramic substrates
Panavia V5 Paste
Temporary ZOE cement Temporary cements = not so strong useful for short-term cementation of temporary crowns & permanent restorations.
Temp-Bond
Variolink Esthetic DC -placement of crowns & bridges -glass ceramic, oxide ceramic, composite 1. apply try-in paste 2. try-in restoration 3. clean prep after try-in 4. isolate
