What is a safety check that a HTM performs?
A safety check on a device is a common test to ensure the unit is properly grounded and will not cause a shock hazard to the patient or the user. There is a specific piece of test equipment (seen later in the module) that measures ground resistance and chassis leakage. Once the unit passes this test then operational and function tests can be performed.
What is a visual inspection that a HTM performs?
A visual inspection is a type of inspection of medical equipment using vision, hearing, touch, and/or smell. Visually inspect a medical device to see if the equipment is undamaged, plugged-in, and working.

An electrical safety analyzer is a device designed to carry out a range of electrical safety tests in order to check that the device being tested complies with electrical safety requirements.

An operational check is an "out of the box" examination to ensure the device is not externally damaged and has all of the accessories. The unit is then set up to be functionally tested.

An oscilloscope is a device used to test the functionality of equipment that generates an electrical signal. Oscilloscopes measure the changing voltage of an electrical signal over time, and display the signal as a waveform in a graph with sweeps of voltage on a vertical (Y) axis, and time on a horizontal (X) axis.
