blind courtesy copy
a copy of a message sent without that recipient's name or email address appearing in the message header
courtesy copy
a copy of the message you send as a courtesy to someone other than the primary recipients in the To line.
mailbox
a folder on the server that corresponds to the user name portion of the email address
contact category
a list of contacts to which you can refer collectively by a single name and to whom you can easily address a single email
instant messaging (IM)
a private means of exchanging real-time messages with one or several people using the Internet
passphrase
a sequence of words separated by spaces

a technology used to make phone calls over the internet
outbox folder
a temporary storage folder for outgoing messages
user ID
a unique identifier for the recipient
user name

news server

list address

POP (Post Office Protocol)

email client

watched conversation
appear in color in the message list.
phishing
attempts to collect personally identifiable information, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc.
spambots
automated programs that create fake email accounts or hack into an unsuspecting user's email account to send spam
wiki
consists of webpages in which authorized users can make edits to content, such a supplementing or deleting.
Subject line
contains a description of the message content
deleted items folder
contains deleted messages
trash folder
contains deleted messages
HTML-formatted message
contains formatting, such as different fonts, font sizes, and font styles, as well as bulleted lists, indented paragraphs, and so forth.
inbox folder
contains incoming messages
junk email

spam folder

drafts folder

Bcc line
contains the email addresses of recipients who will receive a blind courtesy copy of the message
Attach line
contains the file names of any attachments
message body
contains the text of the message
trojan horse
creates a way for a hacker to breach network security
message list
displays individual messages
asynchronous communication
does not require the users to be online at the same time and includes email, mailing lists, and newsgroups.
posting
process of sending a message to the list
synchronous communication
real-time communication, in which two or more users are online at the same time
social media

troll
refers to those who intentionally post inflammatory comments on a blog or article, in order to provoke a response
lurking
remaining quiet and not participating in the chat discussion at first

a common protocol for retrieving email messages via the Internet
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
A communications protocol that enables sending email from a client to a server or between servers.
worm
A destructive computer program that bores its way through a computer's files or through a computer's network.
attachment
A file that is sent with an e-mail message.
online survey technology
A service that allows you to send a survey using email.
emojis
A set of emoticon icons you can use.
To line
Contains one or more email addresses of the message's recipient or recipients
usenet network
Electronic bulletin board system.
chat
Facility that allows two or more people to exchange text or multimedia messages in real time, using either a special client or a web interface.
contacts folder
Folder used in email programs that contains a list of names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and other details about people with whom you communicate.
email marketing software
Helps organizations send email and track the success of a marketing campaign by keeping track of the number of users who read the email, how many times the recipients tapped or clicked a link in the email, and how many times the recipients purchased a product or enrolled in a service.
newsgroups
Online areas in which users have written discussions about a particular subject
spam-filtering services
Services that filter out and either block or move to the Spam folder messages that do not meet certain criteria, such as messages from senders whose addresses are not in the recipient's address book.
message header
